Apple CarPlay Is Coming to Buick, GMC and Cadillac Models This Fall

Apple CarPlay for Cadillac

With its famously intuitive design, Apple’s iOS operating system is a welcome sight for millions of iPhone owners in the United States, and starting this fall, several 2016 Buick, GMC and Cadillac models will offer a similar interface on their built-in displays. The new Apple CarPlay technology will integrate with iPhone apps like Phone, Messages, Maps and Music – as well as compatible third-party apps – so that drivers can control them by voice with Siri or by using their vehicle’s knobs or touchscreen.

Representing some of the first vehicles on the market to offer Apple CarPlay, the compatible 2016 models will include Buick’s Regal and LaCrosse, GMC’s Canyon, Sierra and Yukon, and all Cadillac vehicles except the Cadillac SRX crossover, which is due for a full redesign early next year. Users will interact with Apple CarPlay through the existing IntelliLink (Buick and GMC) and CUE (Cadillac) infotainment interfaces to retrieve directions, make calls, listen to music, and send and receive text messages, all while keeping their focus on the road.

If you own an Android phone instead of an iPhone, you’ll be able to take advantage of similar functionality when Android Auto becomes available on select 2016 Buick, GMC and Cadillac models later this year. Regardless, you can already benefit from several connectivity features through IntelliLink and CUE, including hands-free calling, navigation and music streaming with Pandora Internet Radio.

Whether you’re holding out for Apple CarPlay or want to learn more about the existing infotainment systems in a Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle, we’re always happy to walk our customers through all the available connectivity features.
