Subaru Sells One-Millionth Model with EyeSight® Technology

In 2012, Subaru of America, Inc. introduced EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology across its model lineup. And now, six years later, the auto manufacturer has sold its one-millionth vehicle equipped with this award-winning technology. This landmark sales goal was announced on October 16, 2018.

“Subaru has achieved 10 consecutive years of sales growth in the United States with safety as a key driver of that success,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief executive officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “Accomplishing this milestone in only six years reflects our commitment to improving and innovating the safety features and technology in our vehicles for our customers.”

EyeSight® technology became available on the 2013 Legacy and Outback models, yet it is now an optional feature across all Subaru models except for the BRZ sports car. This unique and innovative driver assist technology includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management, as well as Lane Keep Assist.

All 2018 models equipped with this technology received the highest possible rating of “Superior” when evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for front crash prevention. The technology is able to detect vehicles traveling in front of you and can activate its systems if it assesses a potential collision may occur.

For the 2019 model year, EyeSight® is standard on the all-new 3-row Subaru Ascent SUV, the Outback SUV, the Legacy midsize sedan and the newly redesigned Forester SUV.
