Check Out the All-New Nissan Gripz Concept Crossover!

Nissan Gripz ConceptNissan is renowned for making cutting-edge vehicles that push modern conventions to their limits. That’s especially true when it comes to crossovers, as modes like the Juke, Rogue and Murano — all best-sellers at our Nissan dealership near Plymouth, MA — have redefined the crossover market by blending style, practicality, efficiency and technology in their own versatile packages. Now, the automaker is pushing the envelope even further, revealing its new Nissan Gripz Concept crossover earlier this month to much fanfare.

Featuring elements from designers in Japan and Europe, the Gripz Concept looks like nothing you’ve ever seen on the roadways. With the silhouette of a sports car but the raised ride of an SUV, the Gripz Concept was designed to master both everyday city driving and any weekend adventure imaginable. Additional inspiration was drawn from the iconic Safari Rally-winning Nissan 240Z of the 1970s, the Nissan Sway and average bicycles that allow commuters get to work during the week and explore more terrain on the weekends.

“Nissan pioneered the idea of the compact crossover, and this is reflected in the enormous popularity of Qashqai and JUKE and the resulting growth of the market segment as other manufacturers play catch-up,” said Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president and chief creative officer, Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. “While the Nissan Gripz Concept is not seen as a direct replacement for either of those two iconic vehicles, it does show the extremes to which the compact crossover can be pushed.”

The Gripz Concept’s eye-catching exterior may be what initially captures your attention, but the technology inside is sure to hold your interest. Powered by EV technology and based on the Series hybrid system “Pure Drive” e-Power, the Gripz Concept uses an efficient gasoline engine to power the same electric motor that’s found in the Nissan LEAF. Additional design elements like boomerang-shaped running lights, forward-facing cameras in each headlamp and a carbon frame make the Gripz Concept durable, efficient and utterly singular.
