Subaru Brings the Barkleys Back for Puppy Bowl Ads

What’s better than rolling down the windows of your Subaru to let your dog’s ears flap in the breeze? Subaru knows how much drivers love their pets, so they’re bringing the Barkley family back for another round of commercials. First spotted in the 2013 “Meet the Barkleys” campaign, this family of dogs loves owning a Subaru as much as you do!

2016 Subaru AdThis year’s “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” Subaru campaign includes five commercials that will air during Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XII on Feb. 7. One ad shows the Barkleys taking their puppy for a late-night drive in the family’s Subaru Legacy, while another depicts a funny interaction between the dogs and their voice-controlled navigation system. You can see these commercials and more on the Subaru YouTube channel.

“Subaru and its customers have a deep connection to pets. Eight out of 10 Subaru owners are pet owners, and our brand continues to support the causes and initiatives that our customers care about,” said Alan Bethke, vice president, marketing at Subaru of America, in a release. “The new ‘Dog Tested. Dog Approved.’ campaign puts the Barkley family in the driver’s seat to help celebrate this shared love.”

Subaru is the official auto sponsor of the Puppy Bowl XII as part of its “Subaru Loves Pets” initiative, which also includes supporting the ASPCA and dog-adoption events. The automaker is encouraging viewers to share photos of their pets on Sunday with the hashtag #PuppyBowlSubaru and use the custom Barkley emoji it’s creating for Twitter.
