Volkswagen Introduces Atlas Weekend Edition to Demonstrate SUV’s Versatility

Volkswagen Atlas Weekend EditionHere at the Mastria Auto Group, we’re already eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. This intelligently designed SUV is perfect for large families and those who need to transport a crowd, with its three comfortable rows of seating for up to seven passengers. Earlier this month, Volkswagen took its new SUV a step further by introducing an Atlas Weekend Edition at the Chicago Auto Show.

The Weekend Edition is a concept vehicle that inspires very real adventures. Paying homage to the “Weekender” packages offered on classic Vanagon and Eurovan pop-up camper models, the Weekend Edition showed all that the new SUV can do to enhance road trips and adventures. Volkswagen outfitted a 2018 Atlas SEL Premium with a 3.6-liter VR6┬« engine, an 8-speed transmission and 4Motion┬« all-wheel drive with Drive Mode Select to start. This gives the SUV a fun-to-drive nature and the power it needs to fuel any kind of journey. The automaker also gave this special SUV a unique look, with 18-inch Prisma wheels finished in custom anthracite gray.

What’s really unique about this concept car, though, is its modern variation of a pop-up roof. It’s called the Urban Loader cargo box, and it makes more space for all your parcels, packages and luggage without creating a bulky look. When there’s nothing in the cargo box, the Atlas appears sleek and streamlined. But when you need the extra space, the Atlas can expand to include a 17.7 cubic-foot container. Plus, the Weekend Edition includes base carrier bars that are perfect for packing up skis, kayaks, snowboards or other bulky athletic equipment. You’ll even find steps on the sides of the vehicle to make the roof-top cargo easy to access.

Inside, the Atlas Weekend Edition features a cargo divider that can section off space for your luggage. This is also perfect for those who bring pets along on their journeys, as the cargo divider can also serve as a pet-friendly barrier. In the backseat, there’s a unique universal tablet mount that makes it easy for passengers to use their tablets on the go. They can even connect to Wi-Fi using the Atlas available Media Control feature!

While the Weekend Edition is a concept vehicle, it’s designed to showcase the flexibility and the versatility of the all-new 2018 Atlas. When it’s available at our dealership, customers can outfit their own Atlas vehicles with similar parts and accessories to create their own adventure-inspiring SUV.

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is due in dealerships this spring. Keep in touch with Mastria Volkswagen in Raynham, MA, to find out more information!
